Shiatsu
What
is Shiatsu?
Shiatsu
is based in Traditional Chinese Medicine, which views disease as an
imbalance in the flow of life energy, called chi or ki. Chi flows
through the body along specific pathways called meridians. The Shiatsu
practitioner applies pressure along the meridians to help unblock and
rebalance the flow of energy so the body can once again access its
natural ability to heal itself.
From
the perspective of Western science, shiatsu calms an overactive
sympathetic nervous system, which reduces stress, improves circulation,
relieves stiff muscles, and improves organ functions and joints.
How
does it feel?
When
you receive a session, you will lie in a relaxed position while I apply
gentle stretching and pressure along the meridians and on specific
energy points related to your condition. It gives you vitality,
well-being, and a deep sense of relaxation.
My
approach is holistic; each session addresses the whole body, as well as
the immediate symptoms. The treatments are preventative as well as
curative.
